SmallRig just introduced a new full-size cage for the DJI Osmo Action 3 camera that gives your camera an extra layer of protection. The cage has multiple 1/4″- 20 mounting points and supports the original magnetic quick-release adapter. It is already available for $39,90. So let’s take a closer look at the cage!
DJI’s latest action camera model was introduced last year in September and if you are not familiar with the camera already, please check out the Osmo Action 3 camera.
I would also highly recommend watching this fantastic review by my colleague Gunther Machu, who compared the two rivals in the action camera market, the GoPro HERO11 and DJI Osmo Action 3.
A cage is necessary for an action cam when used in tough shooting situations like skateboarding, on a mountain bike, or attached to a car. Consequently, SmallRig designed the new form-fitting cage for the DJI Osmo Action 3 camera quite ergonomically, so you can easily secure and release the camera via a small press lock on top. Additionally, it gives you full access to all buttons and allows you to apply a screen protector on the back. The cage is made of durable aluminum and adds only an extra weight of 93 g / 3.3 oz to your camera.
One of the most useful functions of the cage is the magnetic side door, which allows you to access the battery easily without removing the cage. A cold shoe mount at the top and multiple 1/4″- 20 thread holes on three sides are available for attaching additional accessories.
The left side of the cage allows you to attach the wireless DJI Mic, turning the DJI Osmo Action 3 into a perfect vlogging camera setup.
The magnetic mounts on the bottom and right side support the original magnetic quick-release adapter for quick switching between horizontal and vertical modes.
The new cage for the DJI Osmo Action 3 camera is already available for $39,90 or €40,40. For further information about the cage, please visit the SmallRig’s website here.
