Endnight Games has revealed the first major update for popular survival game, Sons of the Forest, detailing new features and bug fixes set to launch in Patch 01. In addition to quality-of-life fixes and audio tweaks, the patch notes reveal a number of new, handy features set to launch in the game shortly – including binoculars, and a hang glider for better traversal.

A new mid-game boss fight will also now appear, and players may construct a Defensive Wall gate to better protect their homes, or use a new stick prop to lock establishments. Likewise, enemy cannibals will also have fresh tools at their disposal, with newly-established lookout towers on camps making them harder to ambush.

Other inclusions in the game’s first patch include: a new leather suit for Virginia, the multi-limbed companion, new settings, minor story elements, head shot animations, new functionality for small birds, and tweaks to the game’s existing fish traps, which should now be more efficient.

A vast array of bug fixes are also included in this patch – so if you’ve run into trouble at any point in the game, there’s a chance your particular gripe may have been addressed. If not, Endnight Games has encouraged players to submit their complaints in the game’s Steam forums. The team is slowly working through these reports, to better polish the game as it continues to develop in early access.
